Manuscript is finished

It has been six and a half years since I started on the book, a year since I heard that the book would be published, nine months of intense editing, and the book is now finished. The final InDesign file was sent to Simon & Schuster in the USA, and Anansi House in Canada.

The wonderful maps are complete, the terrific index is done (I really like the topics that the indexer chose and the way they were organised), and the list of illustrations (cross fingers) have the correct page numbers and credits. The final change was the acknowledgments, I hope I showed suitable appreciation for all those that supported me on this journey.

It has ben an an enormous amount of work, I am so grateful to my extraordinary editors, Tom Avery in London, Thomas Lebien in NY, and Janie Yoon in Toronto.

There is plenty still do to, the photo montage in the endpapers, the blurb on the back cover... and then of course, the marketing.

But for now, a big wahay, for the manuscript is complete.
